Aerosol generating procedures like administering the inhalation anesthesia via tracheal intubation to the patients in an intensive care setting poses a critical risk to healthcare workers specially to the Anesthetists. The transmission of the virus via aerosols from COVID patients airway can result in a cross infection among the healthcare workers. It is of utmost importance to contain the spread of aerosols and the carried contaminants during the airway procedures.

According to the WFSA study, India has a severe shortage of anaesthetists in the medical field. In a country of 1.3 billion population, we have one anaesthetist for every 100,000 individuals. On the contrary, WHO recommends one anaesthetist per 5,000 population.
