engineering the eye Camp: July 3 - 9

redxhyd

Join us at Hyderabad for the 4th Engineering the Eye Camp, a platform for engineers, medical professionals, designers, technology aficionados, innovators and big dreamers to build the next generation of healthcare technologies which would impact 5 billion people on the planet.

In Hyderabad, in addition to yearlong R&D at the Srujana Center for Innovation, LVPEI clinicians and MIT engineers meet every July and jointly organize the Engineeirng the Eye Camp with innovators from all over India.

This year's theme is 'Design Data Deploy' - we come full circle from a journey which began back in 2013, starting as an experiment to see what we could create if we put the world's best clinicians and engineers in a room together. We will be showcasing our portfolio of products which were incubated and evolved through the LVP-MITRA Program at the Srujana Center for Innovation since their conception at the original Engineering the Eye 2013 camp and other camps since. Our focus now is on deployment, great design and collecting massive datasets to prove our concepts and demonstrate the utility of our devices. Join us in our journey! Fill the form and get in touch with us at team@lvpmitra.com if you have questions!

The 2016 edition is taking place at the L V Prasad Eye Institute, Kallam Anji Reddy Campus at Banjara Hills, Hyderabad from 3-9 July, 2016.

our model

We believe that tough global health problems require an end-to-end innovation pipeline, not a lone entrepreneur. To impact billions, we need to bring together the people and providers who can facilitate innovation on healthcare grand challenges to form what we call an innovation continuum:

  • inventors building new low cost technologies
  • developers capable of rapidly iterating on these inventions and refining them for use in the real world
  • clinicians and end users to validate our creations
  • entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and development agencies to scale our solutions

What to expect

LEARN ABOUT KEY HEALTH CONCEPTS

LVPEI and MIT will bring in some of the world’s leading researchers, doctors, scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs to teach ReDx participants about key areas for health diagnostics, analysis, and treatment. You will learn the key concepts of these diseases and treatments as well as the scientific approaches that are currently being used to analyze and diagnose them.

BUILD WITH MIT AND LVPEI INVENTORS

Most projects use a unique combination of hardware and software to achieve the results required. Thus, depending on the project, you can expect to learn about electronics, software languages, mathematical models and algorithms, optics, and more.

Test and Iterate in the field with Patients, Users, and Doctors

Historically, we have found that the strongest teams have the best understanding of their patients, doctors, and users. They constantly go out and try to understand the behaviors and procedures that patients undergo. This is an opportunity to get out of the building with the devices you build and learn from real feedback rather than just “building in a bubble.”

Be a part of a growing innovation community

For the last few years, ReDx has garnered a large following of makers, builders, hackers, scientists, and more. We believe this community to be the most valuable part of the ReDx experience. You will learn more from your fellows than we could ever teach you and, who knows, they may be your collaborators in the future some day.

Launch your career

Projects have spawned amazing collaborations with companies, research institutions, and communities. Some projects turn into greater efforts at MIT or at LVP-MITRA and others have the potential to turn into hugely impactful startups. Regardless of where a project goes, our alumni of innovators have experienced phenomenal growth in their personal skills and career paths through the network they have built and the projects they have persisted with.
